The Housing Corporation is pleased to note that the active chapter membership has grown to a point that we can expect full occupancy of the new house for the 2008-09 academic year. The pro forma from which budget matters is drawn calls for fewer in-house residents than capacity, so an increase over the pro forma level allows us some discretionary income, which at present, is slated to be used to assist in paying down of the mortgage.
The Capital Campaign continues to move ahead, with specific targets. For more information, please refer to the House Capital Campaign webpage.
The Housing Corporation has opted to contract with Omega Financial, an independent billing agency that serves a number of fraternity and sorority chapters across the country. Chapters report great success in minimizing their outstanding accounts receivable and as a result, improving their cash flow. In addition, the HC has opted to assess active members who do not reside in the house a monthly "parlor fee" to offset costs for house operations and for debt pay down.
Other than isolated problems with the new house, normal "wear and tear" requires us to invest in replacement appliances and minor repairs to the building itself, but the active chapter is performing at an acceptable level for maintaining a safe, clean and healthy environment in within the house.
