to apply for admission:

Applying to the School of Graduate
Studies is easy. You can apply for graduate degree programs (master’s,
educational specialist, and doctoral), non-degree programs (certificates,
licensure, license renewal, transition to teaching, and workshops) as well
as permission to take graduate courses as an Indiana State senior or guest
in the following three ways:

apply and pay the admission application fee instantly online by going to

You may request and submit a print (hard) copy of the admission
application by contacting:

Apply in
person: You can apply in
person by visiting the School of Graduate Studies, located in Tirey
Hall, Room 183 and completing the application. The telephone numbers are
812-237-3005 or toll-free at 800-444-GRAD (4723).
Academic Departments
may have early deadlines and may require additional application materials.
Please check with the specific academic department or visit our website's
Admission Requirements Page for a detailed listing of deadlines and
supplemental admission material requirements. We are committed to processing
your application in a fast and courteous manner, and will be happy to assist
you in the application process. Normally you will receive a response
acknowledging receipt of your application and other communication from the
School of Graduate Studies within one-to-two weeks upon receipt of your
application. Once admitted, you will receive correspondence and instructions
regarding academic advisement and registration.
Please note that all application credentials become the property of Indiana
State University and are not returned to the student.

How to
apply for Degree-Seeking Admission: |
- Fill out the application form completely. It is very important that
the applicant's home address and telephone number be included.
- A check or money order for U.S. $35.00 exactly must accompany the
application form. Applications/documents will not be processed prior to
receipt of the $35.00 fee. All applications, even from students who have
previously applied to ISU, must be accompanied by the $35.00 fee.
- If you have applied online, sign and mail the
Signature Form
to the School of Graduate Studies.
- Official transcripts of prospective students' academic record must
be submitted to our office. Official transcripts should indicate the
individual subjects studied and the grades for each. Transcripts must be
sent directly from the college/university attended to ISU.
- Ed.S and Ph.D. applicants must submit a statement of intent, a vita,
GRE scores and three (3) letters of recommendation.
- Academic Departments may have early deadlines and may require
additional application materials. Please refer to the following link for
details and check with the respective department.
- Proof of Permanent Residency or proof of acquired U.S. citizenship
if you are not a U.S. citizen by birth is required.

How to apply for Non-Degree Seeking Admission: |
1. Fill out the application form
completely. It is very important that the applicant's home address and
telephone number be included.
- A check or money order for U.S. $35.00 exactly must accompany the
application form. Applications/documents will not be processed prior to
receipt of the $35.00 fee. All applications, even from students who have
previously applied to ISU, must be accompanied by the $35.00 fee. Guest
Students are exempt from paying the application fee.
- If you have applied online, sign and mail the
Signature Form
to the School of Graduate Studies.
4. Additional
supporting documentation will need to be mailed into the School of Graduate
Studies. These will vary by the specific Non-degree Seeking Admission
