The Keystone Adventure Program (KAP) is an adventure-based learning program which includes open-field cooperative games, minimal-prop initiatives, two team initiatives courses, a High Ropes Course and a three-sided Universal Climbing Tower.
Team Initiatives Courses - KAP has two team initiatives courses.
These courses are designed to present challenges to users/groups which can
enhance interpersonal relationships, communication, cooperation, trust, and
self-awareness. One course is spread along the entire main trail, while
the other course is located a short hike away in the
woods. This configuration allows us to provide
greater variety and serve multiple groups more effectively.
High Ropes Course - Our high challenge course provides another
dimension of
individual and group development. While emphasizing individual effort, the
support and goals of the group continue to play an active role. Participants
experience
a challenging set of tasks - all on a rope and cable system suspended 25-30 feet in
trees. Thanks to Vectren for their support in making this course a
reality!
Climbing Tower - The three-sided, universal climbing tower is a state of the art, outdoor climbing facility. As part of the Keystone Adventure Program, the Tower is available to many different groups for a variety of experiences.
Program Options and Reservations - Full-day (6 hrs.) or half-day (3 hrs.) adventure experiences are available for campus groups, school groups, community organizations and businesses. Contact the Department of Recreation and Sport Management by phone at 812-237-2183, or by email for information about scheduling an adventure recreation or learning experience for your organization, business, or group. If you have preliminary questions about what the program has to offer your group and/or how we can customize an experience for you, please contact the KAP director, Don Rogers.
Students!! If you are interested in becoming a trained Facilitator and working in the KAP program, please contact Dr. Rogers. It is a great learning experience and resume builder for any major, not to mention the pay and other benefits. We start a new group of students every Fall semester in the RCSM 363 and 363L classes (total of 3hrs. credit) and they are ready to begin working with groups by late Spring semester, so please contact us in the Spring before you register for Fall classes!
