Wabash Valley Flooding

As the citizens of the Wabash Valley continue to deal with the aftermath of the recent flooding, the University community is prepared to assist with both short and long-term relief efforts.  The Center for Public Service and Community Engagement will coordinate the campus response.  Additional Information about donating, volunteering, and seeking assistance is available on the linked pages. If you need additional information or have a specific request, please contact us at 237-2334 or disbell@indstate.edu

FLOOD RELIEF CENTER ESTABLISHED

The Vigo County Volunteer Service Center for flood relief has been established at the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds.  Those wishing to volunteer should be at the volunteer center any day, Monday through Saturday (no Sundays) at 8 a.m.  The center will provide you with the necessary waivers, instructions for the day, as well as directions to the site and you will be deployed by 8:15 a.m.  Work will continue until 4 p.m. at which time volunteers will return to the Service Center to clean and return tools.  Contact 757-374-0944 for housing for volunteers or information or email volunteer@ob.org.

Employees who are wishing to volunteer a day for flood relief may do so through this service center.  The center is operated by Operation Blessing, a national relief organization that partners with Indiana Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster.  The Volunteer Service Center is located at 3901 US 41 South in the Drivers Education Building of the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds.  Housing is available for groups coming from out of town.

Please contact Donna Isbell  in the Center for Public Service and Community Engagement at 237-2334 or disbell@indstate.edu for additional information.
