Center for Public Service & Community Engagement

Indiana E.A.S.E. into Vigo County
(Encouraging Access and Success in Education)

The EASE Youth program will provide 20 mentors from ISU, SMWC, and Ivy Tech Community College.  They will be mentoring up to 20, 12-15 year old middle school students who have expressed interest in postsecondary education and have good academic records.  The students will be required to enroll in the 21st Century Scholars Program.

The mentors will be responsible for bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with their youth.  They will also participate in an orientation session and monthly trainings focused on topics related to their service and the EASE Youth.  Any of the mentors who are eligible will be able to receive Federal Work Study to help financially support them while they participate in the program.

The purpose of this program is to create a greater awareness of the EASE Youth's postsecondary options, a belief in oneself, greater knowledge of the requirement for postsecondary education, and the value of postsecondary education.
