President Search

Indiana State University announces a nationwide search to recruit a new President. Founded in 1865, Indiana State University is a doctoral/research, public university with a strong commitment to undergraduate education. The Princeton Review has named ISU one of the nation's "best value" colleges in 2007. Indiana State is one of only two institutions in Indiana, and only 62 in the nation, included in the Carnegie Foundation's new category of Curricular Engagement and Outreach & Partnerships. The university, which is a major contributor to the educational milieu and economic development activities in the region, enrolls a total of approximately 10,700 students and has an annual budget of nearly $135 million.

The President reports directly to the Board of Trustees and is the chief executive officer of the institution. It is expected that the next President will be an individual of vision and stature who can provide strong and effective leadership to ISU. The qualities being sought by the Board include: unquestioned integrity, outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, strong administrative abilities, high energy, political astuteness, fundraising experience, financial savvy, everyday common sense, and a personal style that engenders trust and respect.

The selected person will be able to articulate the vision of the University to its many constituencies and the Indiana legislature. The President will have a firm belief in academic values, including a deep commitment to students and faculty, learning and research, and collaborative governance. The President will have a commitment to student success and a genuine and sincere personality.
