I chose to attend ISU because... When I originally chose to attend ISU for my undergraduate, it was a natural choice for me. Coming from a very small high school, ISU offered me an opportunity to be successful in college. When it was time for me to start pursuing a graduate degree, continuing my studies at ISU was great choice. As a performer ISU has offered me performance opportunities that I could not get at other universities. While at the same time being able to study with such outstanding academic faculty has allowed me to grow as a scholar as well.

When I have free time, I like... When I have free time I like to catch up with my friends. Most of them have moved away to pursue careers and it is nice to catch up with what is going on in their lives. I also like to go to local coffee shops, go out to eat, watch movies, and occasionally sleep.

My favorite places on campus to study are... My favorite place on campus to study is at Cunningham Memorial Library. The library has a comfortable atmosphere where I can find materials easily and not be distracted. It also helps that they have a coffee shop open until 2 a.m.

My favorite professor is... This is a difficult question! I have had the opportunity at ISU to work with some great professors who have helped me grow in my profession and as a person.

If I could share an afternoon with anyone, I would love to share it with...I would love to spend an afternoon with all of my favorite musicians discussing what they do and sharing any advice that they would have to give.

If I knew I could not fail, I would... I would go skydiving!

After graduation, I plan to... After graduation I hope to pursue a DMA in percussion performance. I have also thought about taking some time off from school and continuing to teach in both the public schools and my private studio.

The one ISU experience I will always remember is/will be... There are so many great memories from my time at ISU. The one memory that I will always remember is my first performance on the Contemporary Music Festival Student Recital. I remember walking on to stage, bowing, and then looking up to see a packed recital hall with everyone staring right at me. It was the second time I had only ever performed solo marimba in front of anyone.

If I knew then what I know now, I would… Not a thing! I have had a great experience through out my career at ISU. Without all of those experiences I do not think I would be where I am today and have the appreciation for working hard to achieve my goals.

If I could serve as a mentor for future ISU music students, I would tell them/suggest that they… Take charge and explore everything ISU has to offer you! I really feel like the School of Music and ISU in general has a lot to offer their students that you might not be able to receive at other universities. Students should really explore all the possibilities on campus that interests them.
