Mayor's Proclamation

PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS: promotion of understanding and recognition of the inherent dignity and inalienable rights of all members of the human family are worthy ideals; and

WHEREAS: preservation and achievement of these ideals serves as the foundation of freedom, justice, and peace; and

WHEREAS: achieving social justice and human rights requires "An Adequate Standard of Living for all." I, Duke A. Bennett, Mayor of the City of Terre Haute, do hereby proclaim April 14, 2009 as HUMAN RIGHTS DAY in Terre Haute Indiana and I call upon all members of the community to participate in those activities.
