WHAT ARE LEARNING COMMUNITIES?
Learning Communities are special courses linked together with the purpose of connecting students with peers, faculty, and staff through shared experiences.
As a part of a Learning Community, you and a group of other students enroll in two or more courses in the fall semester and work with an instructional team of faculty members and "Learning Community Peer Assistants (LCPAs),"
upper-level student leaders.
This team works to integrate unique curricular experiences throughout the connected courses and to enhance these experiences with co-curricular activities.
Learning Communities at ISU provide academic support throughout the semester and foster intellectual, personal, and social connections between students and faculty across multiple disciplines
or areas of study.
Ask your academic advisor about being part of a Learning Community at Sycamore Advantage (New Student Orientation).
