Element of the Lean Manufacturing Culture, Management Track,
2006 National Association of Industrial Technology (NAIT)
Conference, Cleveland, OH (November 15 – 18, 2006).
Mr. Alberts has been
associated with Indiana State University in both academic and
teaching capacities since he returned to college in 2003 to continue
his education after a 15 year stint working in various engineering
related roles in the professional world. He was a Summa Cum Laude
graduate of our Mechanical Technology program in 2005, and is
scheduled to complete his Masters Degree in Industrial Technology in
May of 2007. His current thesis research is associated to the
analysis/evaluation of mechanical performance quality variance of
internally threaded geometry related to extended tool wear in low
carbon steel through statistical linear correlation.
In his professional
endeavors, Todd has dealt with many facets of the electro-mechanical
engineering world, and has extensive project management experience.
These endeavors include machinery research and development, design
of computer numerical controlled (CNC) machine tools, proprietary
manufacturing equipment for the plastics industry, and many
specialized designs for customer specific applications across many
fields. He has knowledge in computer aided design, engineering
ergonomics, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ANSI Y15.4),
design for manufacture (DFM), cost reduction, and reliability
improvement.
Mr. Alberts has served
as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Adjunct Faculty member in the
Industrial & Mechanical Technology Department, and been involved in
assisting several student organizations in their efforts. He has
worked with the NAIT Student Chapter in the design and development
of a robot for recent national competitions. As well, he has also
worked with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers in the pursuit of
grant writing for a proposed project of creating science and
technology experiential exhibits for the Terre Haute Children’s
Museum.
