An Introduction to Basic Meteorology, Weather Reports and Charts,
and Basic Weather Forecasting.
With Bruce Welsh, ISU Assistant Professor of Aviation Technology
Few aspects of our physical environment influence our daily lives
more than the phenomenon we call weather.
We see it in the newspaper and on television, and we speak of
it in our daily communications with others.
It is all around us, affecting our daily decisions from what
to wear to when and where to vacation.
But in reality, few of us really understand what weather is,
where it comes from, how it forms, and what will happen next.
Why do we get so many tornadoes in the US?
Why are weather forecasters predicting more frequent and
stronger hurricanes? In
this short lecture I will help you understand the basics of
meteorology, help you to understand how to read and use some of the
weather reports and charts found on the Internet, and answer your
questions concerning weather.
