Dr. Brophy will show a film on Russian Imperial Palaces of St.
Petersburg. She will also serve tea Russian style.
Restaurant Inspections and More (Lecture)
Presenter: Ryan Oilar, Health Educator with the Vigo County Health
Department
This lecture will discuss restaurant
inspections and the other services necessary to protect the health
and well-being of the Vigo County residents.

which takes place in all parts of Japan.

wonderful opportunity to learn about this interesting Japanese
holiday and to enjoy Japanese food prepared “hibachi-style” on a
teppanyaki.

The Republic Day of India (Gantantra Divas), January 26, is a
national holiday that marks the transition of India from a British
dominion to a republic.

people all over the world will celebrate a New Year.
The date for the Chinese New Year is based on the lunar
calendar and is often referred to as Lunar New Year.
Members of OLLI are invited to join in the celebration of
“Chinese New Year.”
Culture Across Cuisine – Greek (Special Event)

Members of the Greek Orthodox Church observe Easter on Sunday, April
27th. In Greece, because of fasting during Lent, certain dishes are
served to break the fast. However, on Sunday afternoon many of the
traditional Greek dishes are served. Lamb is the center of
attraction surrounded by many other dishes prepared in the
traditional fashion.

The most celebrated holiday in Thailand is Songkran, the ancient New
Year’s Day. Modern New Year’s Day is January 1. Songkran marks the
beginning of a new astrological year, when the sun enters the sign
of Aries, the Ram.
