“Computer Basics”

I would like to thank the OLLI at ISU program for offering the computer basics class.  I have tried for years to get my wife to use the computer and look up information on her own but she has always been hesitant.  We decided to take the OLLI computer basics course together to make her feel more comfortable and I could stand a few lessons myself.  From the beginning, we started with the basics (when to double click,

how to get onto the Internet, what programs were on the basic computer).  After the first class our instructor, Todd Riker, asked us what we wanted to learn or know more about.  We have used Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet.  I finally understand how to copy and paste.  The class consisted of eight students, one main instructor (Todd) and one helper (Jordan Fair).  Todd made sure everyone understood what we were doing

while not staying to long on any one topic.  Todd always had a helper with him to walk around and answer questions as he was demonstrating in the front of the class.  I believe we have all come away with a lot more knowledge about computers.  We have also come away with a new knowledge about where to hide when a thunderstorm comes in while in class.
