Text Box: We are close to the end of our first year with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Grant. In this first year we have made some strides towards our over all goal of being the best Lifelong Learning Institute in the state of Indiana. The Osher Grant has allowed us to hire a full-time Program Administrator, Michelle Bennett, and to provide services that we could not afford before. We have increased our program offerings in the past year by 17 percent and have increased our membership as of February 21, 2008 to 236 members. In order to continue this growth and to receive funding from the Osher Foundation and one day maybe receive the million dollar endowment your continued support is needed. We need to increase our membership to 300 members before the end of our second year with a total of 500 members by the end of the third year. In order to achieve our over all goal we need to increase our membership and visibility over the next two years. There are several ways to accomplish this. Our best Text Box: marketing tool is YOU. Word of mouth and encouraging friends to take advantage of this great learning opportunity is one. During the next few months, we encourage you to spread the word. Tell your friends. Bring them to programming as a guest. Invite our Program Administrator, Michelle, to speak to a service club, church forum or any other group that you belong. We also must start to look at outside funding for our institute. Even if we achieve our goal of endowment from the Osher Foundation, we will still need to supplement our funding. Osher needs to see that we can continue to support our institute after our three year grant has ended. We have made great strides in the past year and look to the up coming year for continued grow and improvement. This institute was started as a members driven program and must continue to be based around what our members want and need from it. Please talk to the Program Administrator or a member of the Steering Committee Text Box: OLLI at ISU One Year In

Text Box: Dinner and Opera
The Wedding
The trip to Bloomington IN to see “The Wedding was total fun. That opera probably has the nuttiest cast of characters in any show going, and it was great jest to laugh and to watch a very good show. The bus left around 3:30pm and went directly to The Runcible Spoon for dinner.

Text Box: Our food was delicious, and we had time to eat and not be rushed.
I had not been to IU’s opera house before and was impressed with its beauty and comfort. We had good seats, too. All in all, it was a grand and wonderful evening. I recommend you try one of OLLI’s trips to the opera.
