OPEN WATER DIVER
To become a Scuba Diver, you need to be
comfortable in the water and have basic swimming skills.
Mentally, you need a mature attitude, good judgment, and the
self-discipline to follow the guidelines required for safe diving.
The course is set up in three areas of skill
development:
Pool Training – A minimum of 5
sessions, which includes sessions on dive equipment, underwater
communications, dive planning, general Scuba water skills, dive
tables
Academic Training – Four quizzes,
complete all knowledge reviews in the book, pass a final exam of 50
questions
Open Water Dives -
Four open water dives will be done on a weekend at
Sunset Lake near
Linton,
Indiana.

SOCIAL DANCING
Couples dancing is back and stronger ever.
Learn the basics of swing, couples social, and ballroom
dance. You’ll learn
basic techniques in how to lead, how to follow, and turns.

Tamara Schaffer is a fitness and
dance instructor and coach of the ISU Sparkettes dance team.

Creek Drive
YOUTH RACQUETBALL
(ages five-18)
This class is designed for beginning racquetball
players aged 5-18. You
will learn the basics of the game in this 12 session class.
Each session will include fun, conditioning, skill
acquisition, drills, rules and play.
Eye guards, racquets, and balls will be provided.
Instructor: Manny
Rodriguez plays competitively in racquetball tournaments through the
State of Indiana. He’s
taught racquetball classes for several years.
Dates:
September 29-December 6, 2008
Day: Saturdays and some Tuesday evenings. A complete schedule
will be provided in class.
Time: Saturdays at 11:00 am; Tuesdays at 6:00 pm

Learn to
Swim-Child
Each in depth course will take participants entirely through the
level they attend. At the end of the course they will be required to
complete the certification requirements to pass the level and move
on.
Six Week Course
Cost: $35
Meets Saturdays: September 6, 13, 20, 27, October 4,

Description:
Participants
must demonstrate the appropriate skills and behaviors for entry into
each course level. Children must be at least 4 years of age and
be
able to use the restroom facilities independently.
Swim lessons are to be fun and to gain knowledge of skills that will
keep children safe in and out of the water. It is our goal to
provide individuals with an awareness of the importance of water
safety training and to provide general information about being safe
around the water.
Level
I – Introduction to Water Skills
Class time - 10:00am-10:45am
Purpose:
To help participants feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the
water safely.
Prerequisites:
None
This
class is for the very beginner as an introduction to water
awareness. Participants will have constant contact with instructor
while in the water. Participants must be able to independently use
the restroom facilities. This level is the first level of many to
becoming familiar with the water.
Level
II- Fundamental Aquatic Skills
Class time – 10:00am- 10:45am
Purpose:
To
provide participants with opportunities for success with fundamental
skills
Prerequisites:
American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Level I: Introduction to Water
Skills
certificate or demonstrate all completion requirements in Level I.
Participants will begin to be more independent in the water.
There will be an introduction to floating, submerging head, and
blowing bubbles. There will also be a slight introduction into
strokes and using arms and legs simultaneously.
Level III – Stroke Development
Class time – 11:00am- 11:45am
Purpose:
To
build on the skills in Level II by providing additional guided
practice.
Prerequisites:
American Red Cross Learn-to- Swim Level II: Fundamental Aquatic
Skills
certificate or demonstrate all completion requirements in Level II.
Participants will continue with stroke development. They will
also work on retrieving items from shallow end of the pool. There
will be an introduction to deep water. Participants will be able to
demonstrate strokes independently.
Level
IV – Stroke Improvement
Class time – 11:00am- 11:45am
Purpose:
To
build a participants confidence and performance of the swimming
strokes learned in Level III by providing additional guided
practice.
Prerequisites:
American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Level III: Stroke Development
certificate or demonstrate all completion requirements in Level III.
Participants will continue stroke development and rotary
breathing. This level will introduce diving and focus on deep water
instruction.
Learn to Swim-Adult
The adult swim program provides an opportunity for participants to
learn to swim, increase fitness level, refine strokes, or work on a
specific stroke.
Six Week Course
Cost: $35
Meets Tuesdays: September 9, 16, 23, 30, October 7,

Beginner:
Class time – 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Description:
Participants
must be at least 18 years of age. This beginning level course is
designed specifically for people with little or no water experience.
It will provide an understanding of the basic skills required for
swimming such as floating, kicking, and breathing.
No prior swimming experience
is necessary.
Intermediate:
Class time – 7:30pm – 8:30pm
Description:
Participants
must be at least 18 years of age. This class is designed for people
with an understanding of the basic skills of swimming and who want
to further develop these skills. The class provides instruction in
arm motions, timing and revision of floating, kicking, and
breathing. The outcome of this course is to be able to swim
proficient freestyle.
