In many fields, professional certification provides prospective employees an advantage in securing a job. The Career Center offers an assistance program to help students earn elective professional certifications. The program reimburses students for a portion of their certification exam or application fees. The program does not cover licensure or exam fees that are required by an industry or that would be expected as part of employment in that industry (i.e. nursing licensure or teaching licensure).

Following is a list of professional certifications that qualify for this program. The amount of assistance that students may request is noted for each certification. A separate application must be submitted for each certification for which the student is seeking assistance.

  • ASLI- The Institutes’ Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance - $100
  • CPCU- The Institutes’ Collegiate Studies for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter Certificate (exams not taken for credit at ISU) - $100
  • CTP- ATMAE Certified Technical Professional - $50
  • CTM- ATMAE Certified Technology Manager - $50
  • CMS- ATMAE Certified Manufacturing Specialist - $50
  • CompTIA certifications, including CompTIA A+ - $100
  • Microsoft certifications through Certiport, including Microsoft Office Specialist and Microsoft Technology Associate – $100 per section
  •  ATA – American Translator’s Association Certification - $100
  • AIC - Associate Constructor (Level 1) Exam - $100

If you are interested in earning an elective certification in an area/industry not specified above, please complete the application form. Your request will be reviewed and considered for reimbursement based on content and learning outcomes.

Criteria

  • The student must have completed or be currently enrolled in the appropriate course, seminar, or other prerequisite training for the certification.
  • The student must be currently enrolled in a degree program at Indiana State University.
  • Students are eligible to apply for assistance for no more than two certifications.
  • The program works on a reimbursement basis. Students must submit evidence of payment and completion of the certification exam to the Career Center in order to receive reimbursement.
