New programs added to distinctive area
Visiting Executive: Dan Krajnovich (left), CEO of United Healthcare, visited ISU’s College of Business in December and got an up-close look at its financial services programs and outreach efforts. Krajnovich is pictured here with Gongaware Center Executive Director Terrie Troxel just outside the newly completed Financial Trading Room.
Officially underway in the fall of 2007, the major is offered by faculty from the financial services disciplines within the College of Business. As part of the program, majors and minors are encouraged to complete internships to gain practical experience in financial services markets and institutions. Internships may be available in: public accounting, banking, credit card operations, employee benefits administration, financial management, financial planning and consulting, human resources, information technology, internal auditing, insurance sales and marketing, insurance operations, risk management, and securities brokerage. Students with a major or minor in financial services are exposed to educational opportunities that prepare them for examinations leading to professional certifications and designations such as associate in risk management, associate in surplus lines insurance, certified public accountant, certified financial planner, chartered financial analyst, chartered life underwriter, and chartered property casualty underwriter. For more about this new major and minor in financial services, visit the program’s Web site at www.indstate.edu/finsvcs.
