Student Professional Development
The Insurance and Risk Management Program in the College of Business
hosted another successful golf outing to benefit students. The 10th
annual Octoberfest Golf Outing took place October 4 at the Country
Club of Terre Haute and netted more than $23,000 in support of
student professional development.
The golf
scramble is the largest fundraiser for Gamma Iota Sigma, the
international risk management, insurance, and actuarial science
collegiate fraternity. Proceeds from the event support several
worthwhile, student-centered initiatives, such as attendance at
local and regional industry events, travel to corporate tours, and
many other initiatives. Gamma Iota Sigma used a portion of the 2007
profits to send nearly 20 students to Washington, D.C. last semester
for Gamma’s International Management Conference.
The event allowed more than 100 insurance and risk management professionals
the opportunity to network with the outstanding students in the
Insurance and Risk Management Program, and other industry
professionals, said Jon Lough, junior insurance and risk management
major and industry relations manager for the outing.
Gold sponsors
for this year’s event included Aon, Progressive, and Anthem. Silver
sponsors were Lockton Companies and the Indiana State University
Foundation.
Mark your
calendars!
