Archives provide storage and preservation for records and documents of historical value.
Archives also provides limited storage space for institutional records created by the university departments, offices, and organizations.
It is absolutely essential that departments/offices arrange, box, label and inventory records being sent to the Archives for ease in identification and retrieval. Archives staff do not process, arrange or organize department records.
Arrange and box records in original filing order.
--Remove records from binders & hanging files.
--Place records into new/used folders and label.
Include an inventory for each box.
--Make 2 copies & place one in box.
PLEASE DO NOT PACK BOXES TIGHT.
---Leave 2 - 3 inches in each box for ease of access.
Do not mark on boxes. Please Click Here for the Box Label.
Use recommended label for box identification.
--Place label in bottom right hand corner.
Record schedules, transmittal forms, and labels are available online. Fill out forms and send with the boxes to ensure proper accession to the Records Center.
IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT ALL RECORDS BE IN ARCHIVAL QUALITY (Acid Free) BOXES. Acid-Free boxes are available through Hollinger or Gaylord. Box dimensions are to be no greater than 15"x12.5"x10" (LxWxH).
