Notes: Named for the Maehling Family (Hilda, J.J., and Walter H.) of Terre Haute; distinguished educators, business and civic leaders, and public servants.
Located on South 3rd Street approximately ten blocks from campus, the residential complex features two 80-units buildings constructed in 1965 and 1967, and two 112-unit buildings completed in 1969 and 1971. Dedicated Maehling Terrace in 1968, the two 80-unit structures were named in honor of the Maehling family of Terre Haute: Hilda Maehling, alumnae, educator and former Trustee of the University, J. J. Maehling, alumnus, educator and benefactor of the University: and Walter H. Maehling , realtor and friend of the University who served in the Indiana Legislature for 20 yrs.
