The Heine Family

Legacy Award

The Heine family of Terre Haute was recognized on February 2, 2013 at the annual Founder’s Day Program as the 2013 Legacy Award recipient. First awarded in 2011, the Legacy Award recognizes a multi-generational family that has shown continued interest in and support of Indiana State University. It represents a family who has had a history of attendance at ISU and has demonstrated outstanding dedication and service to the vision and mission of the University. Not only has the Heine family met all of these credentials, but they have truly embodied the essence of the true blue Sycamore spirit that runs three generations deep.

While members of the Heine family were students, they excelled. In fact, many of them were academic honorees and were involved in several campus activities, including participation in sororities, homecoming, the Sparkette team, Sycamore Tricycle Derby, Hot Wheels and the basketball team. Betty Heine, the matriarch of the family, has only missed one homecoming 60 years!

As alumni, the Heines continue to support Indiana State by serving on committees and boards with the Alumni Association, Scott College of Business and the ISU Foundation.

The Heine family is truly committed and dedicated to Indiana State and the continued success of their alma mater. The ISU Alumni Association proudly recognized this deserving family and presented them with the 2013 Legacy Award.
