Air Force ROTC - Detachment 218

Welcome to AFROTC Detachment 218!

We are truly pleased you are visiting and hope you will find the information on our site useful. Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 218 is one of 144 AFROTC units nationwide that produces leaders for the United States Air Force. Located in Terre Haute, Indiana, on the beautiful Indiana State University (ISU) campus in the Myers Technology building, Detachment 218 falls under the ISU College of Technology. ISU has had an AFROTC program since 1982. From 1982 to 1987, the program was administered out of Detachment 215, Indiana University. On 1 June 1987, Detachment 218 was chartered as a separate detachment at ISU, with Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology as a major cross-town institution. The detachment also has cross-town agreements with Vincennes University and St. Mary-of-the-Woods College.

There are tremendous opportunities available should you choose to join AFROTC. Some of those opportunities include travel, valuable leadership experience, and lasting friendships. After graduation and successful completion of our program, the best benefit is a job serving your country!

There is no obligation to join AFROTC…simply sign up for our classes when you register for your other classes and “try us on for size”. You can major in any academic area and be in our program at the same time. Should you choose to “commit” to the Air Force, you will compete to attend summer field training and finish the last two years of the program.

We hope you make the decision to “cross into the blue” by joining Detachment 218. If you have any questions about the program, don’t hesitate to give us a call at 1-866-ROTCISU or send us an e-mail at afrotc@indstate.edu.

Regards,
