AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research.
By June, 2009: Indiana AAUW [Association combined with Educational Foundation] will be a unified 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Membership dues will be considered membership donations. Lobbying-support donations will continue to be 501(c)(4) and not tax deductible.
AAUW's Legal Advocacy Fund provides funding and a support system for women seeking judicial redress for sex discrimination in higher education. LAF, established in 1981, is the largest legal fund focused solely on this objective. Note: after 2009 and current funding support, LAF is changing to an amicus curiae and other non-financial support and is expanding from just the campus to workplace discrimination as well.
Vision: AAUW will be a powerful advocate and visible leader in equity and education through research, philanthropy, and measurable change in critical areas impacting the lives of women and girls.
Value Promise: By joining AAUW, we belong to a community that breaks through educational and economic barriers so that all women have a fair chance.

AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research. Since 1881, AAUW has been one of the nation’s leading voices promoting education and equity for women and girls. It has a nationwide network of nearly 100,000 members, 1,300 branches, and 500 college/university institutional partners. Since its founding, members have examined and taken positions on the fundamental issues of the day—educational, social, economic, and political. AAUW’s commitment to educational equity is reflected in its public policy advocacy, community programs, leadership development, conventions and conferences, national partnerships, and international connections.

A variety of membership choices are available. Basic Association membership costs $49.
Indiana AAUW has around 800 members. In addition to National dues, State members pay $7 to the State and Branch dues [vary from branch to branch; see individual branch pages for information]. National Members-at-Large can join as a State MAL for an additional $7 paid directly to the State Finance Director. State MALs are often in areas where there is no [or no longer] a branch. It is always possible to start a new branch!
